Terms of service.
The short version: Cindra supports your care, it doesn’t replace it; be kind to the service and to each other, and we’ll be straight with you.
Draft, prepared for Karuna Labs Inc. and pending legal review. Last updated: October 4, 2026.
1. Agreement
These Terms are a contract between you and Karuna Labs Inc. (“Karuna Labs”, “we”, “us”). They apply to the website at cindra.ai, including the waitlist, and to the Cindra iPhone app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, tapping I agree in the app, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don’t use the Service.
If you use Cindra through a clinic, physical therapist, or other care provider, their agreement with us may add terms that apply to you.
2. What Cindra is, and what it isn’t
Cindra is a coaching companion for people living with persistent pain. It offers pain-science education, guided practices, a voice and text coach informed by Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) principles, optional peer pods, and a way to message a care team.
Cindra is not medical care, a licensed clinician, a diagnostic tool, or an emergency service. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. Nothing in Cindra should replace advice from your own clinicians, and you should not start, stop, or change a medication or care plan because of anything Cindra says.
If you are in crisis, or think you may harm yourself or someone else, don’t wait for Cindra. In the United States, call or text 988, or call 911.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. If you use the Service on behalf of a clinic or organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind it to these Terms.
You sign in to the app with Apple. You are responsible for your device and your Apple ID, and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed it.
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account menu → Delete Account). Deleting your account removes your data from our servers as described in the Privacy Policy. It does not cancel an App Store subscription; see section 8.
4. The AI coach
When you use voice or text coaching, you are talking to an AI, not a person, and Cindra’s voice is AI-generated. Its replies can be wrong, incomplete, or unsuited to your situation. Don’t rely on them for medical decisions, and don’t use Cindra to seek a diagnosis, a medication change, or emergency help.
Some coaching content stays switched off until a licensed clinician has reviewed it, so what Cindra offers may change over time.
5. Care team, nurse check-ins, and crisis follow-up
- Is this normal? check-ins that need follow-up, and messages you send your care team, are read by people. They are not monitored around the clock, and replies are not immediate.
- If something you say to Cindra suggests you may be in crisis, Cindra will show you crisis-line information and a nurse may be notified to follow up. This is a safety measure, not an emergency response.
- Replies from a care team are general guidance. They are not an examination or a medical opinion about your case.
6. Peer pods and community rules
Peer pods are optional small groups of people living with pain. If you join one:
- Be kind and safe. No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam, or content that encourages self-harm. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users.
- Protect privacy. Don’t share another person’s identifying or health information, or your own contact details, in a pod.
- Share experiences, not medical advice. No diagnoses or medication instructions.
- Report and block. You can report a post and block a member. Our staff review reports promptly and may remove content, remove someone from pods, or close an account.
- Crisis posts. Posts that suggest someone may be in crisis are held back from the pod and passed to a nurse to follow up.
7. Your content and ours
What you share with Cindra remains yours. That includes your messages, check-ins, and pod posts (“your content”). You give us a limited permission to host, process, and display your content as needed to run the Service: to show it back to you, to share it with the care team you choose, to show pod posts to your pod, and to send it to the service providers named in the Privacy Policy. Please don’t submit anyone else’s health or personal information without their permission.
The Service itself, including Cindra’s lessons, practices, text, character, designs, and software, belongs to Karuna Labs or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use it as intended.
8. Price, subscriptions, and codes
- Cindra is free for now. The current version of the app has no paid features.
- If we add paid subscriptions, you will buy them through Apple’s App Store, and the price and billing period will be shown in the app before you buy. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before it ends (iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Payment is charged to your Apple account, and refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. Any free trial is tied to your account and is not reset by reinstalling the app.
- Codes and programs. A code, for example from your physical therapist, may give you access to Cindra, or to a particular version such as a coach-only program, for the period and on the terms shown when you redeem it. Codes have no cash value, may be limited in number of uses, and may be withdrawn if misused. Redeeming a code does not share your Cindra activity with whoever gave it to you.
9. Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to break the law or to harm yourself or others; to access an account or data that isn’t yours; to probe, overload, or interfere with the Service or its security; to reverse engineer it except where the law allows; to access it by automated means; or to build a competing product from it. Don’t impersonate anyone, and don’t present Cindra as medical care. We may suspend or end access that violates these Terms.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, who processes it on our behalf, and your choices.
11. Changes to Cindra and to these Terms
Cindra is early. We may add, change, or remove features, including features that depend on your program or subscription. We may also update these Terms. We will post changes here and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Ending these Terms
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or to protect others, and we may stop offering Cindra. Sections that by their nature should continue, including sections 7 and 13 to 15, survive.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, right for your situation, or produce any particular health outcome.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Karuna Labs will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Before bringing a formal claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve it informally. Any claim not resolved that way will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Apple
If you use the Cindra iPhone app, these Terms are between you and Karuna Labs, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Cindra or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims relating to Cindra, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple for a refund of any purchase price, and Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US embargo and are not on a US prohibited-party list.
